Quick Notes #19

1.  Writing again.  8 chapters left to write in FM6.  Focusing on the remaining 3 School story chapters.  Still needs some work, few things I know I want to add in and make more concise, but overall it's starting to shape up.  The monster is bleeding!  It shows weakness!  End is in sight!

2.  Heat and allergies isn't enough to make my life miserable, Fresno had to have a massive power outage for a 1/4th of the city yesterday!

3.  Wrote a scene with Plutarch and KH the other day where KH was actually in class doing an assignment, what freakish world is this?!?!

4.  Lots of cool games shown at E3, probably looking forward to the new South Park RPG the most, at least of those coming out in the last half of this year.  If you haven't played the first one...well, let's just say it has a lot of unique experiences, fighting a Nazi zombie aborted fetus among them.

5.  Started reading Saga, a comic series by Brian Vaughan and Fiona Staples.  Jeez.  I mean, I've come up with some out-there ideas, but the only way to describe this series is Star Wars on LSD.  LOTS OF LSD.

6.  Also started watching the new Voltron!  Great so far, really takes me back to being 3 years old again.

7.  Back to writing I go!

8.  Fan Question:  how many times have you read through the series?

  1. Probably have gone through the entire thing 3 times. I tend to re-read the whole series in the weeks before you release a new novel, out of fear that some minor detail will come back to haunt me if I were to be ignorant of its existence.

    1. Fear of some minor detail coming back to haunt me...sounds familiar...

  2. I've read through the first four books about four times. FM5 has only been read once, but I'm working on correcting that. I'm currently rereading them right now and just about to finish FM4. Every read through I find new details about the mancy I missed previously. Also I really wanted to be a floromancer until I read tea and coffee are a no go. F that. Now I'm team faunamancer. I could drink my sweet, sweet caffeine, and make friends with enough bees and other pollinators to boost my garden.

    1. But no bacon as a faunamancer, it's no win!

Well now I feel like you just kicked my puppy.

  3. Three times for me.
Tried to get my wife hooked, so read tFL aloud, as well.
(I recon that is worth bonus points.)

  4. Think I'm on 5 times through now. Would love an audio version. But who could voice him is the question...

  6. Hope Fresno is cooler this weekend than it is down south in CA. Looking at 110 on Monday, and I can just see power going out somewhere in the middle of it.

    1. "Only" low 100s here next week. About the usual this time of year.

    2. Hitting 113 today. Writing in the heat sucks.

  7. As for read-throughs, I've done three or four at this point, although I also tend to go back and read specific scenes from time to time to see how you did things. :)

  8. I read the full series (including shorts) before I start each new book. That's why info on release date is important to me.

    1. Nov/Dec is about all I have for you at the moment sadly.

  9. Thats' great, thanks.

You are one of the nice authors who provide regular updates. Its the ones who spring a new book on you without warning that I have issues with...

  10. Three times. May make that four times by the time Nov/Dec rolls around. I like the timeline for the release--that's about the time I get Amazon gift cards for my birthday, so score!

  11. Every time a new KH book comes out, I have to re-read the entire series. So...that's about five times? :D

Thank you for all the updates. I sure appreciate them, and you've been an inspiration as an indie writer. Don't laugh, it's true.

  12. I think I've only read through the whole series back to back twice, but each book in the series has been read at least 3 times.

KHP 4 and 5 have been read at least 5 times.

Allergies and heat sound like a bad combination. Sounds like there is light at the end of the tunnel though with only 6 chapters to go!

  13. I reread them about 4 times a year at least

  14. I'll be glad when Annie B gets unglassed and really looking forward to Miranda getting more time in book 7. Easily the two most interesting female characters in the series. I like Valentine but she just lacks the flaws that make Annie B and Miranda so much more interesting.

  15. Soulxlight, I agree with you completely about Annie, but not about Valentine; she has her flaws. And the hairy strawberry? Ugh!

    1. Don't dismiss Miranda so easily haha. I have a sneaking suspicion regarding her and KHP.

  16. So do I. I am sorely worried. After enjoying this series for so long, just to throw it away....
