I'm really tired of typing posts like this, but...I do have a open and honest pact with you all about my progress, the ups AND the downs.
Short story: hurt myself at physio on the 18th of April. Not even like an exercise, just trying to lie down face first on a table weirdly enough. Felt a pop in my mid back and by the time I got home...
Spent about ten days stuck in bed in incredible pain, basically in the fetal position on my right side moving as little as possible. Considered going to ER, but given how ineffective they've been for me over the years, didn't want to torture myself in a chair for hours to be told there was nothing to be done since I'm not dying or bleeding.
Feeling on the higher side of my "normal" pain range now. Hence me being able to type this really quick.
So...not much new writing, probably have an RFA coming up soon, and pretty bummed out.
Am improving day to day and I did finish a key scene before I hurt myself, have one setup (literally!) chapter left to write before the political chaos erupts! (beyond Moira's familial machinations which I know you all love soooooo much)
I guess the good news of not having physio any more would be that I'll have tons more free time to write (and play video games since this interrupted my BG3 plans something horribly...) and it felt like something I had to try to see if it helped.
Just typing this out made me feel better...and want to write.
Richard Raley: eternal optimist. Probably with a curse word and a bodily fluid reference thrown in there somewhere...
Hope you recover quickly, Boss. Still deep into Horizon: Forbidden West. Man, that is a game that has a lot of hours in it (especially for someone who wants to do EVERY side quest and find every "unknown" site...) Won't bother you with other (family stuff)- seems to me that trying to one-up someone else's circumstances, particularly on THEIR site is... yeah, KH would have a word (or several) for that kind of behavior. Get well soon; BG3 is calling youuuu. Treydog
ReplyDeleteHeh. That's the game I decided on once I could sit up again and blasted through it the last couple weeks. Well, not blasted through it, since as you said, it's way too long and way too open world. Liked the first one a whole lot more since it was tighter with a lot less grind and less about numbers on gear and more about learning how to fight the machines. The main story is still fun but its broken up among a lot of other stuff this time and I lost count of how many lost brothers/sisters you save during side quests.
DeleteNext up, I fell for the hype for the newly released Clair Obscur Expedition 33 yesterday and while I'm only through the prologue and up to the first boss, it's amazing in so many ways. Just absolutely brutal and emotional right from the start. You really feel like the world is falling apart, you are so in over your head in a place you don't understand at all, and anything could happen the second you turn around the corner. The fact that in 4 hours they've made me 100% invested in helping these characters survive and stopping the baddies (if they are the baddies) is pretty incredible. Also the QTE turn based RPG stuff might never have been done better and surely has never been done so stylishly. You feel so good when you hit a perfect dodge or launch a counter and missing a dodge can be like 1/3 of our health wiped out in an instant.
Agree completely regarding the Horizon games. Have been drooling over Clair Obscur, but my gaming PC will not run it, and I cannot yet justify trading in my PS4 for a Playbox XStation 5 and 2/3 One Box to Rule Them All... Maybe when the Ice Station Zebra Box 6 and 7/8 comes out... Hope you are feeling better soon, Boss.
DeleteSending good vibes your way, RR! I'm sorry to hear about your back. I hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteBummer man. I wish you a speedy recovery.
